The vocabulary
- AI Music Promposing
- The AI-assisted creative method through which a human initiates or develops music using ideas, prompts, selections, revisions, arrangements, performance, and other creative decisions.

- The human who initiates, directs, selects, develops, or releases music through AI Music Promposing.
- AI Music Promposition
- A musical work brought into being through AI Music Promposing.
- AI-promposed music
- The broader category of music created through this human-and-AI process.
- To prompose
- To propose a musical possibility, prompt its development through generative AI, and exercise creative judgment over what emerges.
AI-generated music describes what the machine generated. AI-promposed music describes what the human initiated, directed, selected, or brought into the world.
Composition and promposing describe different things
Composition describes the musical construction: the melody, harmony, rhythm, form, and orchestration that make the work what it is. Promposing describes the AI-assisted creative method: how the work came into being through intention, language, direction, selection, and judgment. Promposition names the resulting musical work.
